Missionaries to Guatemala

November, 2010

We get to have Laura with us these days until January while she is on break from her ministry with the Destiny program interns.  Even though she doesn't have her usual commitments with the Destiny program she keeps as busy as Sandy and I with other activities.  And she attends church with us almost every Sunday at VERBO Villa Lobos and also attends a weekly bible study in English with Sandy which is a nice change of pace for them both.

A couple of weeks ago the three of us ministered together at another VERBO church.  I was asked to preach in the Sunday service on restoring family relationships and I had both Laura and Sandy share about how God has helped us as a family to heal areas of our relationships.  At the end of the service I asked people to come forward who wanted prayer and the three of us spent over thirty minutes ministering to people.  Many people/families received healing and two people received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.  Sandy and I are so blessed to have the privilege of ministering with one of our kids here in Guatemala.

University of Florida at Gainesville dental team

October 24-31, a team of thirty dental students and their professors from the University of Florida at Gainesville conducted a health outreach in Palin (forty-five minutes south of Guatemala City) at our VERBO church there.  This was an excellent outreach during which we had the help of a terrific group of Guatemalan young people from the local Youth with a Mission base who helped with translation and evangelism.  Seven patients prayed to receive Christ and another person responded to the altar call on Friday night during the closing church service.  That was a very special time for everyone because many of the church members and the North Americans gave testimonies as to how the week had impacted their lives.  And then at the close of the meeting the church asked the team to go forward so that they could pray over them.  People were crying and hugging each other and blessing one another.  It is going to be really neat to see how the Lord uses the relationship that the VERBO Palin church, Youth with a Mission and the UFL dental team have developed for His glory and honor during the years ahead.

On August 28th, Andrew married Michelle Parker in Tustin, CA, and we all had a wonderful family time celebrating together with them.  We have so much to be thankful for!
