Missionaries to Guatemala

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus from Guatemala!

May 27th was the big day for David, his graduation from the Christian Academy of Guatemala, where he has been studying since the 8th grade.  CAG is an excellent school, both academically and spiritually, and has prepared him well for this next important part of his life.  Because he was born here in Guatemala, he could study at the national university or one of the private ones, but he is also considering the option of applying to US schools.  In the meantime, he is helping in the ministry, especially with teams from the US that need translators, and he is also working in a printing business that is owned by a family in one of our VERBO churches.  Pray for David as he seeks God's perfect will for his life.

One of the teams that David helped with was the annual health outreach by the Hendersonville, TN, Rotary Club.  Our long time friend and supporter, Dr. Bill Taylor, started coming to Guatemala over 20 years ago when he was still single, helping us with our dental outreaches to the poor.  Eventually he got his local Rotary Club involved and now it is a huge outreach each year involving one of the local Guatemalan Rotary Clubs and a team from Hendersonville.  This year Bill, a pedodontist, brought seventeen people, including his teenage daughter, Ellis, an optometrist, another dentist and a pediatrician.  Because of the supplies they brought, each day hundreds of people were not only attended to by the doctors, but also given medicines, eye glasses and a health kit.  Many badly decayed and infected teeth were removed and now I am providing follow-up for the people who need fillings and cleanings.  David spent most of his time translating for Dr. Joan White, the pediatrician, and learned a whole lot about medicine.  We were all exhausted after five straight days of intense work but the satisfaction of being able to show God's love to so many needy people made it all worthwhile.

Our local VERBO church in Villa Lobos is preparing to celebrate its second anniversary of ministry in July.  For a small church like ours this is a very important occasion when we recognize the grace and sovereignty of God which has allowed us to accomplish what we have with limited resources.  As part of the activities we will be painting the church and hanging a beautiful mural on the front wall.  In order to raise the funds for these activities every Saturday afternoon we are selling food, cothing and other items that people are donating.  It is wonderful to see the commitment and enthusiasm that is being shown by everyone.  Rejoice with us as we praise God for His faithfulness and the privilege that we have to manifest His Kingdom as part of the Body of Christ here in Villa Lobos.

Shortly after our anniversary celebration our church will be hosting a ten member youth team from Wilshire Avenue Community Church, Fullerton, CA.  Russ Bennett and Tamra Danenhauer, who were on the WACC team two years ago, will be leading this outreach which will focus mainly on evangelism by way of music, sports, and maybe some construction projects if there is time and funds for it.  We are believing that God is going to use this team to make a significant impact in Villa Lobos, especially with the youth.  Put the dates on your calendar, July 21- 31, so you can remember to pray for them.

In the Precious Name of Jesus,

   Dr. Mike, for the Kaderas
